TFL-Salton Sea
were doing a shoot out at Salton Sea. So we decided to head over there.
We arrived there around 4pm. It was really nice to see everyone again along with meeting new people.
A lot of the models were leaving by then. The heat and the smell was not pleasant, however it didn’t stop
anyone from shooting. We were strictly there just to chat and catch up with everyone, but we were also excited to start shooting.
So Mike decided to be the model and think out of the box
After shooting Mike to death, we were told that there is a female photographer, Lisa, that wanted to model.
We took that offer, she was shy at first but Lisa became comfortable after giving her direction to Mike’s vision.
We wanted to express this misunderstood location along with the striving animals living at the Salton Sea
with a very abstract photo. There was little photoshopping due to the fact it was shot with multiple layers
and having Lisa hold some twigs and branches to make it more organic than photoshopping it in.
The color balance was changed in-camera, and the birds were super-imposed with another previous shot.
The rest was shot with our lovely daughter Layla at Palm Desert.
